White Ink tattoo

20 messages · last activity 2/4/2011

Lately I've been trying to come up with an idea for my next tattoo and designs done in white ink have caught my eye. From what I've read they don't last as long or they don't really show up that well. But I realy like the way that they look, so i guess I'm looking for some encouragement. I would love to have one of these tattoos so if anyone can tell me anything I'd really appreacaite it. Thanks
You may have already come across this info, but apparently the whiter/fairer the skin, the more longterm successful (remaining white) a white tattoo will be. eg: If you are so white you glow in the dark It'll probably do fine.
i've done a few and they look ok when healed depending on where you get it, but it seems like people usually want them in odd spots that don't heal too well. so choose the spot wisely and you should be ok, besides, if doesn't heal or turn out how you want, at least it won't be as noticeable as a black, or colr tattoo, good luck
I have a Claddagh on my back and the hands are white, you can really tell because he put light shades of light blue in it, so the white stands out because of the light blue, its looks great. So maybe add different shades of colors.
are white tattoos outlined in black? i've never seen one, but was at a site the other day that lists movie star's tattoos, and i noticed quite a few have white tattoos. i'd like to see a pic of one, where should i look?
I am also looking at gtting a white ink tattoo does ne one have ne photos of how they come out. I am looking at getting it on the inside of my wrist.
iM PLANNING ON GETTING A WHITE TATTOO THIS WEEKEND. IVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THEY LOOK REALLY COOL. IM HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE FINDING A PICTURE OF ONE THAT IS DONE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE????
you know... these images are pretty damn easy to find if you just go on google. but meh. just another reason to continue to avoid my work. www.malutattoo.com/custom-color-sun.jpg www.halobodyart.com/tattoo_files/white.jpg www.toshistation.com/e3/images/IMG_0969.JPG www.juliestattoos.co.uk/images/white.jpg there are plenty more out there, but i'm not going to do all your research for you! (besides, the research is half the fun!) the person getting the tattoo this weekend -- you don't know what a finished white tattoo looks like, but you're getting one in less than a week? what's the design/image? (btw my fave on here is the white yoda. but then. i'm a nerd)
i just got a white tattoo on my wrist and i really like it esp bc people rarley notice it, it seems a little more intimate. one thing i would recommend is finding a place that is good about doing touch ups. i got one a few years ago, and went back to the same place to get this one. the artist that did this one told me it might need to be redone a few times to get it to where i want it as far as how light, but they do free touch ups for life should it ever fade or anything. im going back soon to have her go over it again.
White tattoos are sort of a paradox. If you have very light pigment, the tattoo will bearly show up, and end up looking more like a scar. But if you are too dark, you won't see it at all because your natural skin tone will grow in over top of the tattoo. If you really want a white tattoo, I'd say go for it. Just keep in mind that it will probably turn out very subtle, and try to make sure you get it some place you can keep it out of the sun, or it may disappear completely.
I got a white tattoo on my the middle of my back about a year ago. It still looks great! I am incredibly fair skinned. (you can see my veins through my skin) It was pink for a few months before it finally turned white, and now it looks almost like a scar. Most people don't even notice it is there, except when I get a little tan. I heard a lot of horror stories about the ink turning yellow and they get infected easier, but I never had any problems. The one thing I would recommend is to really baby it if it is a white tattoo. I worked with my tattoo artist to come up with an aftercare system that limited the amount of pigmint loss. Best of Luck!
I have a small yin-yang on my hand. First of all, I was told hands are tough. This is in between my thumb and forefinger. I guess you could call it the spot where your hand would rest if you were shaking hands. Long story short, my tattoo artist tried to leave it flesh colored (white) but it filled in and stayed black. He said he could not put a white spot of ink in it due to pigments? ??? What exactly does this mean? I have a yin yang with white w/spot of black..but the other side is just black? Any comments?
Sorry..that s/say [email removed]
i just got a tattoo about a week ago, and i'm sad to say that i cant see ANY white still in it. it wasn't a main color or anything, but i'm a little bummed it went away. someone said that their white came back after a few months? how long should i wait to get it touched up, and what's the best way to hold on to the ink this time around? it's in a spot that never sees the light of day...um, yeah, so i'm not too worried about sun damage, though i did have an issue with my clothes sticking and pulling ink out (i can't really walk around without pants, so i'm not sure how to avoid this). any ideas?
Greetings, I just finished with my all white tattoo. The artist mixed in a tiny bit of blue so to keep the original integrity. I have 8 dots from large to small small to large in an arch over my left hip. None of the white has shown up as of yet its just pink and puffy...I'm just praying the white comes in.
For those interested, Unfortunately I deleted all the photos I had collected of white tattoos when I decided against getting one a while back. I would suggest speaking with a tattoo artist with what you are interested in having done. My understanding is that people with fair skin tend to accept the ink more so than others who have tan to dark skin tones. I loved the idea of the white tattoo but decided it would be to much of a risk and up keep with not knowing how well my skin would absorb the ink, if at all. And I am quite pale. Best of luck to you all!
i wanted to get a white tattoo also, but mainly because i heard that they sort of fade over time is that true?
Got my white tat and it looks amazing! Very simple, and pretty. I reccomend that you call ahead to the artist and verify that they work in white ink, and check out ANY info you can find regarding the shop, the artist, and their work.
I have a white ink tattoo and I absolutely love it. I've had it for a little over a year. How much it will show up is kind of a gamble because everybody's skin reacts differently. Personally, my tattoo was more for my own purposes than for everybody else to see it so I love the fact that it is only visible if I point it out. I also liked the fact that while you can go over a white tattoo with black to make it more noticeable if you choose, you can't go the other way around. They are slightly more expensive but I think if it's what you really want you should go for it
To the person with the white tattoo with a bit of blue mixed in - is it possible that you post a couple pics somewhere now that it's healed so that we can see what it looks like? I've been wanting a white tatt for a while but I'm so scared that it'll wind up yellowing like this one: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQFCjjVLomJoPLyMudtTx_y3m4bOQlpzbX_tOkgl08XAmz_kCq0Qw I'm okay with slight yellowing but this one is just way too much for me!
