i have a ? on white inks...a client of mine wanted a white rose i layed outline down with a light gray...added the white ink...only lil showed 2 days later she insisted i hit it again , i did lil more took...now she wants me to get a different brand and try...i used star brite,i will have to add that on her ankle i used same white ink on different tat and it took right away...this is on her left breast...she is also allergic to a&d ointment...any comments would be helpful i told her no guaruntees on white but would love to see this happen for her. thank you Ron "Minds Eye Tattoo"
white is a opaque ink, to lay a large area is going to be very difficult unless you have the proper texture of ink,and even then it may not lay into the skin with the results you are looking for.white is good for high lites and accents.ive seen one tattoo with white applied to a large area and it was great.(freshly done) so the true test of time will answer the question of holding.white is a very difficult ink to lay in a large area. to obtain the white affect you are looking for is going to be difficult and i would use it for high lite and accent area. i have used intense, millenium, national, and others, all are fairly equal to each other. i have had alot of people recently ask me about a completley white tattoo being done. my immedate answer. nope aint going to happen, and just wont work.
i forgot to add that it also depends largely on the person getting the ink. my wife doesnt take white real well but my brother in law takes it extremley well and it holds very well, and has for years.
hey thanks for your reply...I copy/pasted a reply from Guy Aitchison also... (i removed some of his email address) white rose From: Guy Aitchison
i agree with what guy says, and i can see where the suttle shading is brought into play here that shade will help give the white a base for the white to adhere to.been a while since i have been on the hyperspace forum.but definetly good advice and well within reason. best of luck
I may be wrong on this. But aren't you supposed to wait 3 weeks before going back over it? I am assuming you meant, after two days, she came back in wanting you to lay it again, after the healing time. Anyways...I have tried a lot of brands. I am SOLD on EasyGlow's white. It is simply amazing. I used to use Stable white, but this is so much brighter and easier to lay. Give it a try. I am sure you will love it. I have not seen one artist yet who hasn't switched
Thanks for the reply Scratcher...yes 3 weeks is a safe bet depending on the person allot are healed in 2 though.i will check out easyglow I'm thinking using a combo of whites on her a mix for the next...I've read and researched having togo over it like 5 to 8 times thats nuts turn it into hamburger...she is tough to tattoo can't take pain she bruises real easy(like poke her with your finger she is bruised) so I'm babying her and would love to make her happy(she is a real close friend) but I let her read and have had her researching whites so she knows that it will be hard to get what she wants.as soon as i get caught up with everything with life and the biz i am creating a websight for tat business and tattooing in general where we all can share our pages links and all that jazz....thanks again for the post and info brother. Not a problem man. I will say this though. EasyGlow and StarBrite have a chemical reaction to each other. So just text it in a cap before mixing with other inks. Also, I did a dime size white rose on a lady who looked like he had frail skin. She has scares all over her arms, and he skin was tough then soft 1mm apart. But it took the first time and I didnt have to work it in. It is worth the 10$ for a 1oz. Good luck man
