White Tattoo

I was wondering if anyone know anything about using white ink for a tattoo. I drew up a design that I am interested in getting on my back and I was thinking about using white ink so that the tattoo wouldn't be very noticable. I have never seen an all white tattoo but I have heard 1 story about a girl that had one done and it apparently looked really good. Any information would be great. Thank You KR
Hell yes!! White tattoos look amazing.. However, many of my friends frown on them. I think the cool thing about it is that not may people at all have "just white" tattoos.. I saw a really sweet one in a tat mag once.. I think i'm getting an all white piece on my arm.. to answer your question.. YES THEY ROCK
I just recentely got a white piece done on the inside bicept/elbow area done all in white. Was quite pink at first but is going white as it heals. It is very unique and am glad I went for it.The design I used lends itself well for this color. Some people think it is a branding.
i had one done on myself about 7ish yrs ago,and have had it gone over again twice since to brighten it up.ive done quite a few on people,so ill share.. not everyone holds white ink. each individual heals differently. some dont hold white at all.for starters the artist needs to use top quality white, not a white made for mixing w/ other colors. and needs to make sure to rinse the tube every so often, so the ink stays true white. id recommend a simpler design, easier to distinguish,in a place not subject to the elements.if in the sun alot it could turn dull.(my white tat is behind my ear)and yes, most people think it is a brand.i wipe most of the stencil off so it wont mix in w/ the white , and i usually go over the tattoo a few times and explain that it may need to be touched up to be brighter. oh yeah, its gonna look wierd when its healing, and get used to people asking " so when you gonna color it?" ~inkgoddess~
I must be one of those few that can't hold white ink! :) All the white parts of my tat swelled up (within the black outline) itched like a mo-fo (worse than the original healing process!) and eventually, the white just disappeared.
Alot of artist here will use white ink but sparingly. Ive seen alot of folks with white in thier tats and after a while they look like someone forgot to wipe some baby powder off the spot that its in. Especially in color. Doesnt look right to me unless its new.
hey... another idea is a blacklight tattoo. The are almost invisible in regular light but look amazing under a blacklight. I have two and they were a good choice because I got one on my wrist and i dont have to worry about it looking unperfessional or anything. I highly recomend that. another thing is white is the hardest ink to have removed. Not saying that in the future you will want to have it removed but it is always something to think of ya know. My brother was telling me that one of his friends' old girlfriend had an all white tattoo, and it looked cool, expically with her tanned skin tone. I was also thinking about getting one myself..A chinese symbol on my back...something simple...But i was wondering if the white ink would look cool, cuz I am pretty tanned myself..any advice?
does a blacklight tattoo have any health issues that come along.
i saw the nicest tat i have ever seen today....it was white. i am so inspired to get a white tattoo, but after reading some of the things said here i am a little scared. i have never had a tattoo and my family frowns upon it. i really want to get white roman numerals done on the inside of my upper arm.....but i scared of my body rejecting the white ink. also, i have fairly sensitive skin. What should i do?
I have a solid white tattoo on the inside of my forearm. From what I know, solid white tattoos react differently to different skin types. Most skin types are known to reject white ink. If you are fare skinned the ink should hold well. If you put the tattoo in an area that gets a lot of exposure to the sun the tattoo will quickly fade. Your back would probably workout but if you have dark skin it may reject the ink. Plus use lots of sun screen. I have had mine for only one year and it is starting to fade in a spot that is not exposed to the sun. I am getting mine redone so the white will continue to stick out. Make sure if you are getting an all white tattoo that the artist doesn't use a dark outline first and go over it with the white ink. the outline ink will mix with the white giving it a grey like color in some areas. See if the artist can do what is known as a blood line. if your artist doesn't know what a blood line is, then I would look for another artist. Good Luck
I got a flag with a white cross in it about 10 years ago. I'm one of those people who white wil no hold on. What the artist told me was because of my skin color (I tan easily) it will likely not hold, just a heads up, I think it's based on skin color, but I'm just quoting what he said.
I'm looking for a reputable, knowlegdeable tattooist who has done white ink only tattoos. I'm in NJ but I'd go to a nearby place.. CT, PA, NY.. I'm open to ideas as far as to locations/states to travel to but I don't want some fly-by-night tattooist.. any advice out there for me would be most sincerely appreciated..

I got my first tattoo, an all white tribal bird, four years ago and the ink has held up very well. I would have to say that there seems to be very little if any fading. I'm the only person I know or have seen to have an all white tat so it is indeed unique. Some people argue that it is a brand which is strange seeing how it is on my body I should know. I love it so much I am designing a second all white piece. Anyone who is interested in seeing it I have a pic here: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/chrysallys/tat.jpg
love the bird tattoo in white! where did u get it? im in nyc mary

pure white tattoos are to me the purest image you can put on the body...some artists have problems putting solid white in and getting it to stay but 90% of the white tattoos I have done stay in well...you must count in the sun factor...if you are a sun baby...stay away from white tattoos!...a lot deoends in the brand of pigment I have very good luck with National, starbrite and millenium...put it in SLOW and soft..build it up!!...TAz
I have a white tattoo and a tattoo with white in it. Here are my experiences. The straight-up white one is amazing! My skin is very pale, and so I was perfect for it. It doesn't show up well on tan or black skin. My original artist did not go deep enough, and so it was very subtle. I had it gone over by another artist who went much deeper. I like this because there is a raised aspect to it. I can feel it. Apparantly it isn't the easist ink to work with, so find an artist you trust and knows what they are doing. I wouldn't mix it with anothert color, because it takes away the whole effect. My other one started as white stars, but I decided to add fuschia to it. You can still tell it's white, though. I say go for it! Also- it fades easily. I've had mine for 6 years, and it's faded only slightly. It is between my breasts, so it doesn't see sunshine too much. But, when i go into the sun, I keep it slathered with UV sunblock. If it does fade, then get it done over again. My girl friend has six white tattoos. Including a giant star under her chin. Filled in with white as well. She loves it! I actually got the idea from her. Her's looks a little more yellow than mine. Not sure why. maybe it's the ink. Maybe her skin type. I guess it is hard to do, but find someone who's done it before, and everything should be honky dory.
My wife and I are having our first baby this summer and I'm thinking about getting a tattoo symbolizing each child we have. I really want one in white ink, but I'm not sure how to go about finding someone who is experienced w/ white. I live in the Detroit area but I'm more than willing to travel a reasonable distance to get it done by the right person. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on how to go about finding someone? I have zero tattoos currently, so I'm totally ignorant to this stuff.
I would look up Jime Litwalk at E S Kustoms in Troy Mi...Isn't that close to you?...well can't be too far away...this guy is awesome!!!...TAz
Yes, that's pretty darn close... I'll check it out. Thanks a ton.

i just got a tattoo of a white star on my wrist today, its very pinky and i dunno if he did a good job.i guess il have to wait til it heals to see it but it looks pretty good.... does anyone know how you can tell whether your skin can hold it.... do u have to wait til it heals to see?
i have some in mine, i dont think its to bad, or to great, but when you get a tan it really stands out i think
Does anyone else have anymore pictures of white tats? I'm thinking of getting one next week, but am struggling to find pictures on the web
hey! a few days ago i got a tattoo of a heart on my lower hip/pelvic area. it's a black heart outline. here's a picture: i am deciding how i'd like to fill in the part of the heart that looks like the "banner"... i dont want to fill in the inside of it.... WHITE is so far my favorite idea, however i think the area may be too small and won't really show on my skin. i have fair white skin. the tat looks a little big in the pic but is really only a bit bigger than the size of a quarter. any suggestions? ideas? does anyone have a similar tattoo area filled in white??? THANK YOU!
soory i forgot the picture code.. here it is!! http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/fiumelly/good%20times/tats/hearttat.jpg
Hello out there. I'm interested in getting an all white tattoo but have no idea how to find an experienced tattoo artist. I currently have two tats but got them from two different artists, both of whom do not work in all white. If anyone can suggest an artist in my area or close by, I'd appreciate it. I'm willing to travel in order to get a quality piece of art! I'm located in Pennsylvania, right near the Maryland state line... closest large towns are Cumberland, MD and Altoona, PA.
Can anyone send me pictures of their white tattoos or refer me to a link. I'm thinking of getting one on my arm and want to see what they look like on my skin tone. I'm olive coloured. Also, I'm thinking of getting a semi complex pattern and would like to see how the majority of them heal. Thank you, White Tattoo
i am from Mexico and i had a tatto done yesterday, it was going to be black or red but since i don't want it to be noticeable i decided it should be white ... at the begining i thought it was kinda weird but now it looks really GREAT , it looks like it's carved , it's like a brand ... my skin isn't exacly white ..i am a little bit tan but the skin in my ankle (where i got the tattoo) is quite light and it looks great in there. i really like it the disign is called a "vegvisir"and it is some sort of compass that vikings used to draw in their foreheads so they didn't get lost. here are the pictures of my white ink tattoo... http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n68/fernandohr87/DSC00036.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n68/fernandohr87/DSC00039.jpg any comments are welcomed !!!
Both my tats have at least a little white. I tan fairly easily but I haven't gotten a tan in years. The white in both have held up really well. My next tat is likely a ying yang I designed. So the will be more white there. I also have other ideas. I personally like color, most my ideas for color include some white. Good luck. Check out the artists healed white work.
I have a white ink tat. It's across the top of my back, 10 years old and no problems. I'm a lightish skin tone but do tan easily and it's never shown any wear.
I'm from Holland and I got a white ink tattoo done this friday. The outlines of a star on my left inner wrist. I am asian, with a little tan, the tattoo looks a bit yellowish at the moment. I hope my skin won't reject the white ink as I am loving my tattoo.
Tattoo ink gets deposited on the third layer of skin, so think of your other top layers of skin as a tinted window. The darker the tint is the less transparency you have to show the white ink. I have a slight tanned skin and most of the white in my tats turned brownish. I've noticed that white holds better for all individuals in the inside parts where the skin is softer/ thinner.
You know, for awhile, I was thinking about getting a white tattoo.. but I decided against it.. for multiple reasons.. one being that I have no undertone to my skin, and I don't tan easily.. I feel as though, if I get a white tattoo, it won't be very noticable at all, and since I'm a very bold person.. I want any ink that I get to be very noticable..
I have decided to get a white tattoo. This will be my first (most likely not the last) Since this is my first tattoo, I understand that I need to find an experienced artist that is willing to work with white. I live in Lexington Ky. Anyone have any suggestions of where to go?
Amber people with whiter skin which I assume you are sayin you have , take white pigment better than almost anyone for some odd reason!
I have quite a large tribal piece right round my upper arm which i am desperate to have covered up.I have thought about having it filled in solid black and then having a design done in white on the black background, does anyone know if this is possible?thanks.
I went to an artist today to talk about getting an all white piece on my wrist. At first he flat out told me he wouldnt do it, but then said he would if I really wanted him to. He told me that it may hold for a little bit, but eventually it would just either blur completely together or just disappear. From what I have read on here it depends on the skin type as to whether it will hold or not...a risk Im willing to take...but I havent heard anything about blurring. He said that the outline 'holds the rest of the ink within it and by having it the same color as the tattoo it wouldnt be able to hold it'. So Im thinking...what about all black tatts...they are outlined and filled in in the same color, so why wouldnt that blur? Anyway, Im not gonna go to this guy...im just not gettin a good vibe from him, but Id still like to know what you all have to say about the blurring thing. Also said white tends to turn yellow...true?
I have an all white tattoo thats a couple of years old that still looks just as fine as when it went in. but i had a very competent and talented artist do the tattoo. white can be an utter pain in the ass i hear, but i also hear that anybody who really knows what theyre doing can deal with it with ease.
I'm so glad that I found this thread. I've got a time set up with an artist that has done work on my bestfriends, Mom, Dad and twin brothers. I'm going out west on vacation and he's going in on his day off just to do my piece for me! He's done several all white pieces, uses National inks, and knows how to do a bloodline. I think I insulted him when I asked if he knew how to. I've seen his work, not just on my friends but his books as well and he's great. He just really warned me that it can yellow a bit over time, he said it kinda tends to go ivory. And also told me about the ink being under a couple layers of the epidurmus (sp?). Thanks to this thread I had lots of questions and feel I'm going into this with eye's wide open. My first tat is just an itty bitty thing. This time I'm having my kids initials put on the back of my neck. I'm more excited about the tattoo then I am about seeing my family! LOL
I want a bubble the size of a 5p, just a circle outline in white ink with a light-reflection dash thing just inside the outline, if you get me. I've never had a tattoo before but have been thinking about this one for the past year or two, so I know I'm serios about it. I have very fair skin, so from reading up I think the white ink would stay. However, I don't know if it would show up? By white I mean WHITE. I don't tan, I managed to burn through factor 50 suncream etc. Will my skin be a problem for tattoo-ing? How do I find a good tattoo artist who won't fuck it up? How do I know they are fully qualified, have experience with white ink and so on? Last thing, I can't decide where to get it. I'm torn between the inside of my wrist, inside my hip just below my jeans, on my rib cage or between them (just under my chest) -but according to a friend, bones are the most painful, more pricey, more dangerous . . . I really want to get this done, so how do I decide?
hey, im from the milwaukee area in wisconsin. im really interested in trying a white tattoo and was wondering if anyone knows of any experienced artists around here who are willing to do the white. if you can give me any advice, suggestions, etc please email me at [email removed] since i will probably forget to check this site for replies. thanks so much to anyone who helps!
I have been wanting to get a white star tattoo for years but cannot seem to find a competent tattoo artist. i live in the denver area but am willing to go fairly far to find an artist who has worked with white tattoos before. if anyone could tell me who a great artist is i would very grateful!!
I got my all white tattoo and am totally in love with it. I'll explain my design. If you tilt your head to the right you'll see the right side is a W and the left is an M. My boys initials. It's healing really well and now I need to come up with a design for my next one. This picture is from the day I got it, maybe two or three hours later. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c61/MrsDrC/Untitled.jpg
I've had my all white heart design since May, it's my one and only...and I'm in love with it. I opted for white because I wanted something different and discrete, since the tattoo is for me. My skin is fair, and the ink took well initially, but I chose to have it gone over a second time to enhance the color. I have yet to meet anybody else with an all white; it's nice to be a bit unique. As stated above, the artist that did my piece wiped nearly all of the stencil ink away before tattooing, and also recommended that I avoid dark clothing for about a month(it's on my lower hip) in order to better preserve the white, and of course, SPF is a must. round one all healed up- check it out! http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=109558770&imageID=1376636601 Since round two, the heart is much brighter, unfortunately I haven't taken a picture of it yet...
I'm in Dallas, TX and I'm planning on getting a white tattoo on my forearm at the end of the month. Does anyone know of any good tattoo artists in the area that they know could handle that kind of work? I'm actually incredibly excited about this one-- I'm trusting that my pale and untanning skin will hold the white pretty well. :)
I have a big question concerning white ink.... About a month ago, I got a tattoo on my tricep. It was a real nice cross with Galatians 2:20 inside of the cross. A few things got mixed up and they ended up spelling Galatians wrong (long story, I spelled it out to them CORRECTLY, but since it was on my tricep, I couldn't see him spelling it wrong. The mistake went both ways). But anyway, they attempted to fix it by just completely filling in the inside of the cross black. It still looks good, but to me, there's somethin missing. So finally I decided I want to add some white shading inside the tattoo. I really want it to look like a cracking stone, or maybe just shade the inside to where it looks better. My tricep is pretty damn white by the way. My question mainly is, one, how would white ink stand being shaded over darker, black ink, and two, does anyone else have any ideas on how to fix something like this and make it better?
Hey, I am from Columbus Ohio and I really really want my tattoo soon. What I really want it independence in chinese on my wrist in white ink, yet I tan easily and go tanning; therefore, I am thinking that isn't the best idea. However I am thinking of getting it either on my lower back or on my hip. Basically I was woundering if anyone knew of an amazing artist in Columbus that has a lot of experience in white ink. I would like them to answer any questions or concerns I may have. White Ink means a lot to me and there is a story behind the meaning. This really means the world to me and if anyone could/would help me out that would be amazing! Thanks
hii! so i want to get a white tattoo but i dont know where to go....im in the chicago land area and after reading all the posts i want a place that can handle white tattoos. any suggestions??
I just got an all white tattoo of a chinese symbol on my wrist about 2 hours ago. he warned me that the outline ink from the stencil might stain it but he wiped it off pretty well, but right now its kinda like blue/grey-ish and he said it would get lighter and look whiter. i watched him do it, he didnt seem to stray outside the lines that i noticed that the enitre thing would have a grey tint. it this a bad sign?

does anyone know of any really good tattoo artists in the philly area? i've been wanting to get an all white tattoo, but i want to find someone who's done a bunch before.
just to let you know, the ink color is not technically "white." they use white ink and put grey/silver into it so your tattoo looks sort of metallic, if you will. but you were right, it looks really sweet to use white ink with a tattoo.
JMWST...You have absolutely No idea what you are talking about!
I just got a white tattoo 9 days ago...It's really pink right now. At first it looked grey from the stencil, but that went away when the scabs came off. Dont worry if it looks grey in the beginning- it will fade.
I got a white tattoo done about a month ago, it was the outline of an elephant on my wrist i love it but its fading away already :[ and i think its the artist's fault because the ink looks greenish from one spot and then whiteish from the other, its weired.
hey guys, i want to get a white tattoo, but i can't find any artists that know how to do it well enough.. does anybody know any artist in the los angeles area? thanks!!
Hi! I have a small (quarter of an inch-ish) black star on the inside of my wrist and am wondering whether it would be possible to put white over it. The problem really is that I got the star with another person and was hoping that making it white would be a way for me to make it more my own. Would this work?

I just got a white celtic knot on my left inner wrist two weeks ago. It was really pink, then it scabbed, now its just finished healing. I heard that it can take up to a month to heal totally---its getting whiter and whiter each day and I gotta say its awesome. i say go for it!
I live in RI and I totally wanted a white tattoo and the guy told me he refused to do that and it is an awful yellow color, that is neither hear nor there so I was hoping someone knows of a good artist in RI that can give me an all white tattoo?
why would you go through all the pain of getting a tattoo if you didn't want it to be seen
I just got an Irish flag tat on my left bicep. The guy refused to put white in the center because he said it would look worse than leaving it skin colored. Anyone ever heard of guy refusing their customer like this and do you agree with the white looking bad?
Tattoo artists ( if they are competent and have a conscience) refuse to do tattoo preceedures regularly for a myriad of reasons. Maybe he/she isn't comfortable doing an all white piece in that case wouldn't you rather he/she refuse you than to possibly have a poorly done tattoo? Find an artist who does white tattoos.
I an african american female and was wondering how a black and white tattoo would look?
I have a white heart tattooed on the inside of my left wrist. Before I got it I looked all over the internet for pictures of white tattoos. What you need to know (and I never realized) is that white tattoos don’t photograph well. I am pasting the link to a picture of my white heart tattoo but it appears like a raised branding/scar. If you see it in person though it is flat and appears like a light pink heart. Light actually reflects off of the heart ink which probably makes it hard to photograph. Well… I hope this helps. I don’t regret my tattoo at all and I would suggest it to anyone who wants a tattoo but doesn’t want it easily recognizable. Most people don’t notice my tattoo until I point it out to them. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g244/boxcarpunk/whitehearttattoo.jpg
any pics of white ink tattoos on dark skinned ppl...indian, black or at least tanned?
Hi, Everyone.. I got a new tattoo yesterday. It is a heart on my hand between my thumb and first finger. I LOVE how white ink tattoos look, I didn't want it to be totally noticeable, so the artist mixed blacklight ink with white ink. I don't know much about tattooing, but he seemed trustworthy. First question, is it safe to mix white and blacklight ink together? Secondly, will the purpleish gray tint of the tattoo go away as it heals? Any replys would be greatly appreciated, as I am very concerned that this guy messed up my hand
why didnt u ask the tattooist those questions before he started? and any purple should prob go once healed providing he used white backlight ink to mix with the normal white.
Well, I did ask him.. He said that it was indeed safe, I ad just never heard of it being done.. My tattoo seems to be healing correctly, but it's not white at all.. It seems a little red, and still purple.
white tattoos are amazing...i have 2...anyone in the columbus ohio area or willing to travel...go to evolved body art on high street and ask for lars! his work is amazing and i highly reccomend him
Hey I was wondering if anyone would email me pics of there white tats. I am trying to decide if I should get one, but cant seem to find many pics on the net. I would really appreciate some pics. Mel
I'm getting the word free on my wrist with my best friend next saturday...except both of us work at a tanning salon and we tan pretty often, Anyway...we're worried that if we get the tattoos, they will quickly fade or change colors... if i shouldn't get a white ink tattoo, then please, somebody tell me...because I want people to notice it, but I want to make sure it will actually stand-out and look good on my skin. this is how tan i am...but naturally i am pretty fair-skinned http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=177837346&albumID=0&imageID=1431069
Does anyone know a good tattoo artist in the DC area (including maryland and nothern virginia)?? I am very interested in getting a white tattoo but the tattoo artists that I've spoken with so far will not do them. help please!! :)
try and look at this photo. it's a pretty neat white tattoo.. www.toshistation.com/c3/images/IMG_0969.JPG
How do you know if you skin rejects the ink? Is there a way they could see .. or something?
I was thinking of getting a phrase on my hip in black with a white ink outline design going up my side of my ribcage. How you think that'd be?
Can anyone direct me to a tattoo artist in Scotland (central, glasgow, stirling, falkirk etc) who can do a white tattoo?? Thanks
I'm thinking about getting a white tattoo on my hand of a dove. I tan pretty easily and i'm pretty young so i'm not sure if white is such a good idea anymore because i dont want it to fade. any other ideas for something subtle instead of white? How does branding work, can you get very detailed with that? i want it about the size of a silver dollar, would that be too small for a lot of detail? where are some interesting/unique/attractive places you've seen tattoo's on women? i know nothing about tattos so i'm asking. _J-me*
i know there are tons of tattoo places in austin, texas and i want a white sparrow done on my wirst.. but after reading some of this i want to make sure i have it done by someone who KNOWS what they are doing. anyone know a reputable austin atrist? thanks-- jess
I got my tattoo about a month and a half ago. It's of the word "free" on my hip. Most people warned us (my friend and i) that it might turn yellow or fade, but so far it hasn't...even though i go tanning a few times a week. I just make sure i put sunscreen on it, and then I place a sticker over it. It still looks white and it's really cute. I definitely recommend white ink tattoos. They are pure, simple, and i think they make a good statement.
Yes you can get white ink tattoos, but not every artist/parlor will do them. I have one on my back ( see URL for a pic). Artists are reluctant, cos good places guarantee their work and the price includes touch ups. My white ink had to be done twice which I am told is standard. So I have had 2, 2hour sittings on it. It can fade very easily and you must sun screen it any time it will be exposed to slow down it fading. So they are usually a little more expensive as the price includes the retouches. That is why places dont like doing them, because they require more touch ups. Plus depending ont he skin you have and where you put them, part or all of it may fade out very quickly. I got mine done at Sins Of the Skin in Chase, MD. They do nice work, i am very happy with it. Hope this helps, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/applezz/16a9b234.jpg Applezz

I got mine done at Sins Of the Skin in Chase, MD. They do nice work, i am very happy with it. Hope this helps, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/applezz/16a9b234.jpg Applezz
I have been thinking about getting a white tattoo for some time now. I thought this was incredibely helpful, but i still have two questions. Can you mix white and blacklight ink and still have a good/safe tattoo? and Does anyone know of a tattoo artist that does white tattoos in the Charlotte, NC area? thanks a bunch, cgib
I have two white ink tattoos. My first is "just" on my left wrist and "breathe" on my right wrist. I got it from the movie Ever After, if you've seen the movie you'd know what part it is, Drew Barrymore said, "Breathe, just breathe." Anyway, I got it before Lindsay Lohan got her "breathe" on her wrist. She got it after she had an asthma attack or something. And then I got a white star behind my right ear. I got it spur of the moment when I was getting my lip pierced. I never went back to have it touched up, but when I go get my third white tattoo, I'm going to have Breezy put some blacklight ink around it too.. that should be fun. I have medium skin tone. I'm half white and half hispanic. Sorry the breathe one is so blurry, I couldn't get a good focused one. I haven't had either of them touched up yet. They are still white and have not faded. The pics are kind of yellow but that's because of my lighting. In the sun, they are white. I LOVE white ink tats. Only one of my tattoos have color in it. The next white one I'm getting is going to be a bible verse in Hebrew on my left forearm.
Hi, I have just had my 4th tattoo and its a pure white one of a trebel clef heart on the inside of my wrist I have a pretty large swelling under it too and wondered if this is just because of where it is?? Can anyone tell me how long it will take for it to start looking OK... It still looks bloody and very sore I just hope that the tattooist has done a good job on it... I would be grateful if someone coud reply!! If it does turn out okay will be happy to send in a photo!! Cheers!
hey i've decided to get a white tattoo and i'm gonna be in New York this winter, any suggestions for talented artitsts who are experienced with white ink? it will be my first and only tatto and i want it to be to done right, thanks. -lkjh8
I'm getting my 3rd white tattoo done today for my birthday. I'll post a picture of what it looks like right after I get it done... then again once it's healed.
I have found some photos of white tattoo's online. Check BMEInk.com White tattoo's interest me but I have seen less impressive photos than good. Not to mention they usually take more up keep than other tattoo's.
Hi guys, Just spent an hour checking out sites... where the (peep) can I find a dutch artist who will make me a white ink tattoo? pls let me know....waiting for this shizzle so long jass
The only thing that I can suggest is that you look up different studios in your area or that you are willing to travel to. Look at the portfolio's they show, if they show a white tattoo (which doesn't happen often) or show tattoo's that have a lot of white in them, then just email them and ask. That is how I found someone on the first try. Of course, I must mention that I have decided against getting a white tattoo. While my skin is pale and may hold the ink I feel it's too much of a risk and up keep. I have found more tasteless photos of white tattoo's than I would hope to find. If you wish to see the photos please email me and will be happy to send them your way. Good luck with your search!
So i've been reading over a lot of these and it says that you have to have fairly light skin to make the white ink show up. i have fairly dark skin since i swim basically year round. does this mean that i shouldn't get an all white tattoo?
From what I have read if you choose to get a white tattoo you should keep it out of the sun or use sunblock on it at all times to keep it from fading.

Hey, if anyone knows of a GREAT white tattoo artist in the Atlanta area, please tell me! I want someone that actually uses good inks and is very talented! Obviously..lol Please email me back! Thanks So much!
I am in Croydon in England, does anyone konw of a artist that will do all white in the sounth east that knows his stuff? I got my previous tatt at Temple Tattoo in Brighton and really pleased with the results but haven't had time to ask if they do White yet. Cheers
I'm thinking about white, but only as a filler, a tattoo artist told me they look best when contrasted by another color, because there is a high contrast. I recently saw a tattoo on a guy, it was a pin-up girl with a red and white striped shirt, anyway the white in the shirt was REALLY white, like elmers glue white, I couldn't believe it really, I was impressed. I asked him about it and he said he had red in it and the girl was tanned, so that it would contrast more with the white and make it stand out more. I currently have a mural on my shoulder, back, down to a half sleeve, it all shaded, and I'm having trouble with which colors to use, part of the mural, a big part is wind or moving, swirling clouds, and I'd like that portion to be white.
I just got a white tattoo done last week on my wrist. It's the word LIVE with the inifinty symbol underneath it, so far i love it, it really itches and i think one section of my skin is starting to reject it, but so far it's going good! I really recomend it especially if you just want the tattoo for you. Mine is to remind me to not fuck life up and to make sure to live each day to the fullest. And the infinity symbol all my friends just got becuase everyone is going off to college in like a week.
I want to thank everyone for all of the great info on this site. I am interested in getting a whilte tattoo on the inside of my wrist and I didn't think it was possible until I read through these postings. Can anyone recommend a talented and trustworthy tattoo artist in the DC area? Thanks!

Hi - I'm looking for an amazing artist in NYC that can do white tattoos. I have one on my forearm, and want to get my whole forearm done, but with a really pretty, artistic design. Anyone know of any in NYC? I'm going for Labor Day weekend. Thanks! Andy
Not in NYC, but Green Man Studio in Hartford CT will do white tattoos. You may want to contact Ink Side Out Tattoo in Norwalk CT as well.
I really want a white tattoo! Does anyone know of a good artist that will do one in Michigan?
Hey, im interested in getting a white tattoo, itll be my first so im a little nervous and need someone reputable. Does anyone know of an artist in philadelphia? Preferably the city, as traveling to the suburbs is kind of a pain. Thanks!
Hey everyone. If one of you can recommend a great tattoo artist near chicago that is willing to do a large rip piece all in white on a very pale girl (that's me!) I would be eternally grateful. check this out: http://modblog.bmezine.com/2006/11/30/all-white-tribal-tattoos/ It's so beautiful... like someone embossed her. That's about the same size I'm looking for, and roughly the same placement (not on my chest, though.) I actually called Jade Dragon and they flat out refused to even discuss it. Should that worry me? my email is thaumata (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know anywhere even remotely around Missouri who's reputable and has experience doing all white tattoos?
If you are in Michigan you should go to Tribal Image in Lapeer. They did a great job on my white tattoo. I was a little nervous because it did look a little grey, but then it healed and it looks amazing!!
i got a white tattoo on my wrist and it turned out absolutely amazing... she had to go over it a few times though. HOWEVER, a few of my friends after seeing my tattoo went out and got white tattoos... one girls turned brown and the edges are completely blurred, it looks like a brown blob scar. then another girl who got one is still raised (she got it a few months ago) and has pink scars around the edges. im too scared to get another white one- i feel like i was just lucky?
using white ink as a primary color in your tattoo can have verying results based on your skin. if you are extremely fair skined it will look more blond or yellow. if you have a dark or medium tone the color it turns out can range anywhere from a kind of green to orange. Anyway. they never turn out white and rarely turn out how you want them to. this is why it will be hard to find a tatto artist that will do a primarily white tattoo. It would be a unique tattoo that looks more like a weird burn or scar. white is best used for highlights. Hope this helps.
Hey everyone! i just got a white tattoo on my neck about an hour ago, and so far so good. It's super swollen and bloody, but i'll keep everyone updated on it's healing and the way it looks day by day (or day by week, whichever i have time for! :) ) just to help people decide if white is right for them. :) happy to help -c here's it's very first day picture http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=82arf54&s=1
A friend of mine just got a white tattoo, and it looks like it got stained with the purple stencil ink! Can anyone tell me how a competent tattoo artist would do a stencil for a white tattoo? I can't imagine it's proper to use a purple stencil.
I have been really interested in getting a white tat for over a month now, it would be my first one but I have read that you need to be carfull about sun and tanning and whatever. If i get it done right and am in the sun alot should i even have to worry about getting it touched up in the first year or 2?
well as any reputable tattooist with any professional experience in the business will tell you the rule that applies to tattoo ink colours is the lighter the colour the harder it is to work with WHITE is so hard if you are having a white tattoo make sure the tattooist knows what he is doing here's the main points he or she should know the white ink should be of high standard do a scratch pass on the stencil. WHAT IS A SCRATCH PASS? well this is when the tattooist DOESNT do a full line they lightly line the stencil then wipe it off this leaves a very thin line sometimes dotted but this allows you to get rid of the stencil all together so you can see what you are doing clearly as the blue carbon gets in the way the tattooist can then go over it properly this really helps because your lining twice which makes it stand out more the tattooist really needs to slow up when colouring i would recommend having it done twice the tattooist should clean his gun alot during this tattoo ( i do it after every pass as blood can mix with the ink as you are dipping for more and believe me slowing up to get the white ink in with a good coverage makes you bleed you don't have to hammer the ink in you can tell if the tattooist is doing this if the rattle sound of the gun as i call it disappears because there pressing in too hard also i quicken the gun up ever so slightly and this setting changes for every client ) don't expose it to the sun in all this tattoo done properly will take twice as long and as i said it would be highly recommended that it is done twice so you are looking at paying maybe as much as four times the price of a normal tattoo
DO NOT GET A WHITE TATTOO. I REPEAT. i have great skin, other tats and carefor them. it looks like a branding. its red, pigmented and raised. its 5 months old. i took anti biotics.. its digusting, and since on my wrist could be miscronstrued as a suicide attempt. a friend asked (while itwas healing) why i had worms under my skin.. its that bad.. they cant remove it.
I got my first tattoo on saturday - a white butterfly outline on my back, to remind me that I'm beautiful, and that I am good enough as I am. I adore it! It's healing really well, and I love the way the white ink looks - I'm already planning on getting it added too! I think I want something on my wrist aswell, and would only consider white ink as I love the subtelty of it and even though I think bold colourful tattoo's look great on other people, it's not right for me! I think as long as you make sure you go to a good tattooist, and talk about it thouroughly before you get it done then if it's right for you go for it! :)
Does anyone know an artist in Washington or Oregon that amazing with white ink tattoos? I have wanted a white ink tattoo for a while now and after much research I think I am a good candidate considering I am a very fair skinned red-head! Any information is welcome!! THANKS!!
So, just today I decided that I want to get a tattoo when I turn 18 in a couple of weeks...... I want to get a classy dove on my ankle that goes onto my foot but I'm no artist and I can't find a decent picture anywhere on what exactly I want it to look like. I also decided I want it to be white. I have an olive complexion and I tan easily but I figured even if it faded it would still have that branding effect which would not be too noticeable yet it would be there forever. If anyone has any cool ideas of my dove or any pictures of elegant/detailed looking ones that you've seen, please post 'em!
i have always had a thing for tattoos but haven't got any of my own.. yet. i've been doing some research on tattoos and absolutely fell in love with white ink. however, reading some things on here, i'm a little hesitant. naturally i have fairly dark, olive skin, and i tan extremely easily. some people have said that this is the best skin combination for white ink, while others have said otherwise. i'd like to see someone for a consultation, tips, and advice..anyone know of an experienced tattoo artist who does white in tattoos in the toronto area? thanks a lot! :)

i got a white ink tat on my ribs about a year ago. i love it and it healed perfectly. however white ink isnt for everyone. on people with darker complexions it wont show up very well because the more melanin is your skin cells the more the ink itself will be absorbed into the cells and disappear. the thing with white ink is it fades and turns yellow in the sunlight..even after being completely healed. youd probably have to get the tat retouched every year or so to maintain the right color. but i do love my tattoo and everytime someone notices it they always tell me how unique it is and how they have never seen one like that before. mine came out pretty cool. i get asked if i had scaration done because it tends to look like a brand. but go for it!

I just had a white tattoo done insdie my wrist about 2 weeks ago, with the initals of my 3 babies SJB. I love it so much that I'm now getting it extended (not telling hubby that tho:), and as I'm and older 1st timer in tattoo's I thought that it would be more discreet and keeping in my age bracket , if you get what I mean. My friend at work liked mine so much she has made an appmnt to get one done for herself. NOTE:: if anyone is thinking does it hurt in the top of your wrist, the answer is NOPE!!! tried to find info all over the web but to no avail, but soooo pleased I went ahead with it
hi, I don't know any white tattoo artist in Germany, who does white tattooes, but I do know one in Copenhagen: Miks Tattoo Abel Cathrines Gade 31 KLD 1654 København .V TLF : 33221317 Web : www.mikstattoo.dk Email : [email removed] I hope this will help you and good luck on the tattoo
I LOVE my white ink tattoos they are so much more personal because not everyone notices them which is cool if you have a professional job like me and they look great with my pale skin I started off with an anchor and then I got <3 with a friend because we both went through alot in the last year and I think I might get another one tonight !
Oh and I tell everyone if you have darker skin or go in the sun a lot or go tanning this is not the tattoo for you and both of mine I've had the artist bloodline them so that the stencil didn't mix which basically they put the stencil on and go over the stencil with out in so you bleed but then they wipe away the stencil and your blood is now the stencil just make sure you talk the entire process over with the person who is going to do it before you get it done so you can get a feel for if they know what they are doing !
Hey, I want a white ink tattoo but I recently moved to Washington DC and don't know about anyone who does white inks. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks!!
Hey I have been thinking about getting a white tattoo on the inside of my wrist for about a year now. I want to get STRENGTH written in cursive. Does anyone know a good place in NJ, PA or NY that will do a white tattoo? I want a good, reputable place. Also does it hurt alot? I have a high pain threshold but I am still nervous. Thanks in advance!
Hey all, I am looking to get my second tattoo in white on my ankle. Does anybody know of a good artist in the Des Moines, Iowa area?? I want to make sure to get a great artist!! Thanks!
jsl.....to reply to your question about health issues that come along with UV ink....think about it...what makes something glow under a blacklight? i dont know the exact answer but i can say that i believe it to be phosphorus... since none of the inks used in the tattoo are rated by big brother we really cannot tell what we are putting into our skin.. here is a statement from Crazychameleonbodyartsupply.com about their product It contains NO phosphors - It is NOT radio active - It DOES NOT contain EverGlow - It does NOT cause cancer - It has FDA approval as a Spectral Marking [tattoo] Pigment that was developed for use in tracking [tattooing] animals and fish - and yes the same ones we eat, and has been tested and used with NO adverse reaction in humans for over 10 years. - the florescent dye is completely safe and has NO carcinogen and is human safe and does not spread or “blow out” because the dye is contained in micro capsules. NOw i dont personally take one companies side to ANYTHING (be it bying a computer or a pair of shoes OR tattoo pigments...call me mr doubtpants but i just dont feed on evrything i am told) they go on to say The ingredients of Chameleon UV Tattoo Inks: (PMMA) Polymethylmethacrylate 97.5% and microspheres of fluorescent dye 2.5% suspended in UV sterilized, distilled water with no preservatives or other additives. from being a tattooer in a piercing shop that is APP and OSHA certified i know that Polymethylmethacrylate is what is used in "acrylic" plugs...so ask yourself ....do i want acrylics or plastics injected into my skin. and as a responsible tattoo artist do i wnt to subject my clients to something i do not have a full knowledge or understanding for? im sure i am opening a whirlwind shitstorm from accomplished tattooers who are using UV products but ya know what...i want to hear a definative argument for the use of these products....coming humbly and respectfully b
my white tattoo is the best decision ever! i absolutely love it! i did a lot of research and preparation before going in and even speaking with tattoo artists. most artists i spoke to were not willing to use white ink because it is very difficult to work with. once the ink is first put in the skin, and then wiped away, the white ink cannot be seen, and it is very hard for the artist to see where he injected the ink for the second layer. a stencil cannot be used, because the color of the stencil will mix with the ink. make sure the artist uses multiple trays of white ink, for if you bleed, the white can mix with your blood and create a pink color. so it is important to constantly dip the needle into clean white ink. another reason artists are hesitant to use white, is that on some people, the white ink either doesn't hold and oozes out. next, white ink may not sit flat on some people's skin. it may become slightly raised, looking like a branding. if you slide your hand over the tattoo you can and focus, you can feel it a bit. and when you look at it, it definetly gives the effect / illusion of it being raised. next, artists want to make sure people know that a white tattoo is not white. it is not the color of printer paper. it is a milky bone sort of color. some artists explain it as a baby yellow. ok, its not a baby yellow... its a BONE color. white tattoos are amazing. i love mine. i wanted something discreet, and the white is perfect because if someone doesn't know you have it, they may look straight at it and not notice it. amazing. do it.
also, like i said, some people swear by bloodlines, but i dont think its wise, because the color of your blood can mix with the white. i would die if i had a pink tattoo loll
I am looking for a Tattoo artist in the LA area that is willing to do an all white tattoo. I have talked to a few and none of them are willing to do it. Anyone have a good recommendation or experience with and artist?
I have a white tattoo bc I feared the wrath of my family finding out. I love my tattoo- I think with tanner skin it looks better. I prob should have it re-inked again it's been three years and it's faded a wee bit, but it's something I'll never regret.
Hey i live in south florida and am looking to get white angel wings tattooed on my inner wrist in memory of my brother... any places that are good can you please tell? I am willing to go from palmbeach up to about tampa
I am having a very hard time finding anyone who will do a white tattoo. They don't understand that the same reasons they are giving me for not getting one are the exact same reasons I want one! Does anyone know an artist in the OKC or Houston area who is capable and willing to work with all white ink?
^^ exactly!! i want one because i know nobody that has one :D so unique...i got one done on monday (2/11/09) looks pretty good right now but i know the risks so i dont want to speak too soon :P will post pics when its healed! x
so. anymore, at least with people I know, white tattoos are not exactly few and far between. lol anyhow. I really want one and I'm very grateful for finding all the comments people left here. people kept telling me if I got a white tattoo it would turn yellow and I'd hate it. I also appreciated being able to see people's white tattoos. they're all very cool. =) thanks bunches everybody! and wish me luck finding someone good to do my tattoo!!!
Phat Cat Kolor from Beetnik.... I've had 'Amazing' results. You can feel the difference in just the weight of the bottle, at least twice as heavy as your regular inks. It's 100% pure organic pigment. Try it or ask for it!
