who in SF area would do this best?

15 messages · last activity 4/25/2006

Can somebody recommend a tattoo artist in SF bay area that they think would do the best job on this tattoo. I'm putting a link to it. If the link only takes you to the page, click on the "mermaids touch" thumbnail. Any help would be appreciated. This will be my first tattoo and I'm not familiar with who the good artists are in my area. http://www.tattoofinder.com/find_tattooDB.asp?pagePN=1&page=7
Check out Jason Tyler Grace right in San Fran. He is a fantastic tattoo artist and will do your tattoo justice! Let him know we sent you and let us know how it goes!
isn't Jack Rudy from the bay area? you cant live that close and not get tattooed by a legend.
There are so many fantastic tattoo artists in the bay area that if you had to get a tattoo by every legend you'd need 3 skins!
OK, well Mr Grace hasn't returned my calls so I just scheduled an appt with a guy from "Sacred Rose Tattoo" in SF. He's new to thier shop and doesn't have any work posted on the website (they say because they havent had a chance to put it up yet) but when I asked about his talent they said he is very good and that their studio has a reputation for only having only very good artists working there. They also said I was welcome to look at his portfolio in the shop and reschedule with someone else for a later date. But I just can't see myself looking at his work and saying to his face - Dude, I don't feel confident with you doing my tatoo, Thanks anyway. I gave them a $50 deposit and have an appt tomorrow at 4 p.m. See the problem is I have chickened out on doing this for 20 years. I want to do it NOW while I'm having a spell of courage. What do you guys think? Am I making a mistake? Did anybody get a chance to look at the tattoo I'm getting, does it look like a tuff one? It does to me. Thanks guys, your a big help! It's nice to have this resource.
I did some research on Jack Rudy. Best I can tell is he works in East LA (about 400 miles away) but thanks for your help.
ooops, somehow I gave the wrong web address to the tattoo, let me try agin http://www.tattoofinder.com/find_tattooDB.asp?pagePN=1&page=7
Ummm, I would not advise anyone to drop down a deposit for an artist they havnt seen. I dont know the studio, though, that doesnt mean they are good or bad, that just means I dont know them. Personally, I would be patient and make sure you find an great artist and look at their work. If you've waited 20 years you should be able to wait to find an artist with time. Often talented artists are booked a few weeks in advance.
OK, They posted some of his portfolio. Can you guys give your honest opinions. http://www.sacredrosetattoo.com/james_tattoos.html
Gabe, you'll be happy to know my appt canceled on me today and then Jason called me back. I have an appt to get my tattoo done with him at noon tomorrow. I feel relief. I will let you know how it go's. Thanks again.
Thats great! Jason is a fantastic artist and he wont steer you wrong. He is a great artist and fellah. Please lemme know how it goes!
Well I just got back. I owe you a big thank you Gabe!!! He did a wonderful job. I am very pleased! I told him you sent me, he knew who you were. Thanks again! P.S. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as I expected. I almost could have taken a nap while he worked. A few tender spots but a cake walk compared to my imagination.
fantastic. And hes a stylish devil too. Cant wait to see if he posts a pic of the tattoo!
