I grew up in a shop both at home and other. My early memories are of my father working. I'm 43 now so Id say Ive been around tattooing for about as long as all but the oldest of em. When the day comes I turn my back on a brother because he asked a question or tried to belittle him for his lack of knowledge rather than pointing him in the right direction well maybe Its time to stop and take a long look inside. Hell, maybe I'm wrong, I have been in the past, but then again ill bet if I called you dumb ass dick and showed you the door you'd be a little discouraged. Maybe you'd not ask anyone again, huh ? Maybe that approach makes people become scratchers. Just a thought. Worth just about as much as yours.

Probably if you didn't have the sac worth a tattoo..............be it woman or man. Doesn't seem like an artistic pastime for the faint of heart, or thin of skin!!! If you've read on here long enough, you'd notice that the ones who are still around are the ones who didn't run away the first time they got jumped on!!! Some of us post shit on here about politics and all kinds of shit, knowing full well that we're going to be met with some backlash....................BIG DEAL, It's a computer screen!! If we all already have the same opinion about everything, there's not a whole lot of point in talking. The pro's on here have seen a lot of bullshit....................and if there's one way to assess ones sincerity, it's to call them out, and see if they come through with the goods, or if they just make one excuse after another. Ok Paulbearer...so we are supposed to just pass out technical info on tattooing and encourage hacks to fuck people up?...If you truly grew up in the life you KNOW better...this art is just not something that can be learned on the net.....Maube you should bother to read the top thread...the one that says "READ BEFORE POSTING" which it seems nobody EVER reads!...It clearly states that this is not a how to tattoo forum...maybe you should look into one of the other forums where rookies and hacks tell each other how to tattoo all day long ...they are very amusing!...T

Paulbearer, as someone who's been tattooing for nearly 42 years and seen what's happened to this profession, I have a real hard time trying to see your reasoning. Obviously you must be in a rather secluded place or you'd see what 'the wannabe but don't wanta apprentice/work for it crowd has done to the profession, the shit that's caused us that have 'earned their bones'. Most of these buttholes only want to learn enough to not just mess up people, frequently also causing infections/worse, dissing the real tattoo artists, taking money out of our pockets, undoing any/all good some of us have worked to do FOR the profession and you suggest I should giving them pointers, well, I think not. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that, just figured ya should consider mine...Doc

Examples... #1...The guy who comes into my shop and calls me "brother" like he has known me for years and asks me to sell him a few "caps"of india ink so he can finish up a "tack" he did on his buddy in jail. #2...the kid who comes to my shop reeking of pot and basically demanding that I give him an apprenticeship but has no portfolio whatsoever and has only one very small very bad tattoo. #3...The lady who comes to me after saying my prices are too high so she goes to a local unlicensed shop to save $25 but then returns and wants me to tell her how to take care of the horrid work she got because her "artist" didn't tell her how to take care of it. #4...The father who brings in his 12 year old daughter to get her nipples and Clitoris pierced and threatens to sue me because we refuse! (happened just today!) #5...The female "tattoo artist" who has been working in an unlicensed shop for 6 months comes in to apply for a job...when asked what kind of machines she uses she replies "oh you know ...the ones with the flames" then asks what those funny little bags are when she sees an employee sterilizing and then asks what that shiny thing in the back room is...it was the autoclave. Paulbearer I could go on and on but these are but a few examples of the stupidity that we professional tattoo artists have to put up with everyday...and you wonder why we lose patience? STUPID SHOULD HURT!!>>>>BAD!!!!

Damn Taz, I thought it was bad when I had a father that wanted to sign for a fourteen yr old to get their nipples pierced, I mean he already got her implants and she took care of them, how dare I turn them away telling them she wasn't mature enough! All I know is my little girl is going on 3, and I won't let her have ears pierced till I feel she old enough, and I feel shes mature enough.
